Pura Tirta Empul is an awe-inspiring site, one of Bali’s most famous water temples that was built around a natural spring in the 10th century.
To get to the highlight of the temple, a collection of freshwater pools lined with over 20 carved fountains (below), you pass through beautiful temple structures like this one above.
Locals visit the temple to bathe in the healing waters of this this sacred natural spring, which is believed to bless you with good fortune and health. We watched people light incense in flower prayer offerings before going into the water (below).
After, we walked the grounds of the temple and took in the sights – in the rain.
